Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Canada! Arrive in Calgary and meet up with our group to transfer into Banff National Park and our campsite near Lake Louise.
Camping at Lake Louise
Day 2
Today we head to a less explored and stunning area of Banff National Park. Starting on the shores of Moraine Lake in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, we’ll hike through the Larch valley to reach Sentinel Pass on the shoulder of Mt Temple. From here we can descend on the other side of the pass reaching Paradise Valley to complete a loop trail taking us back to Moraine Lake road, or return the way we came. Either option we choose will be the right one, as we’ll be surrounded by beauty.
Camping at Lake Louise
Day 3
We’ll head west today to reach Yoho National Park. Yoho is a Cree expression meaning amazement and wonder, and with its massive ice fields, impressive waterfalls, and jade green lakes, Yoho is a special place with an incredible density of must-sees.
This morning we tackle one of Yoho’s signature treks: the Iceline Trail. The trail starts next to the majestic Takakkaw Falls, the 2nd highest in Canada. Taking us up the east side of the President’s range this hike offers incredible views of the falls, the Waputik Icefield and the Daly Glacier to the east. After reaching a plateau near Yoho pass we’ll have a few different options for the return route. We can choose to do the complete loop through the Little Yoho Valley or shave off a few miles by cutting through Celeste Lake.
After our day in the park, we’ll return to our campground near Lake Louise to relax and gaze at the mountains we’ve just explored while enjoying our al fresco dinner.
Camping at Lake Louise
Day 4
Today we drive north along the Icefield Parkway, known as one of the most spectacular stretches of asphalt on earth. It meanders through the Rocky Mountains, passing by massive ice fields and over 100 glaciers. From the Num-Ti-Jah lodge on the shores of Bow Lake to the iconic Wolf head of Peyto Lake, we will make as many stops as needed to experience all the amazing sights this drive has to offer. Our highlight of the day is the 3-hour ice walk tour along Athabasca Glacier. Continuing onward, we'll make camp in Jasper and get a good night's sleep for our next day of adventure.
Camping in Jasper
Day 5
We've got a full day ahead of us to explore Jasper National Park, so make sure to fill up at breakfast! We'll start the morning with an easy hike through Maligne Canyon, then after lunch, we'll head out on the Athabasca River for a mellow rafting session with incredible alpine views.
Camping in Jasper
Day 6
This morning we’ll drive the scenic Icefield Parkway back to Banff, where we’ll have time to explore the town, rest our feet and explore the local shops.
In the late afternoon, we’ll take a scenic cable car ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain. From there we’ll enjoy an incredible farewell dinner surrounded by sweeping views and the full grandeur of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Camping in Banff
Day 7
The journey home begins as it's time to transfer back to Calgary. It’s always hard to depart after such amazing adventures, but it’s not goodbye as we have a bunch of new family…..it’s “see you soon”. xo
