Your lunch will be a packed meal, perfect for enjoying amidst the natural beauty surrounding you. Day 3
Lace up your hiking boots and get ready for a memorable day! Today's trek takes you to the top of the forested area, where you'll then traverse rocky terrain with breathtaking views of the Western Breach and its magnificent glaciers. Around midday, you'll take a well-deserved break to rest and enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch, the journey continues through the western side of Kibo, the highest of Kilimanjaro's volcanic cones. Day 4
Your trek to the summit continues today, as the route turns east into a semi-desert and rocky landscape surrounding Lava Tower. Lunch will be served in a designated area before ascending the rocky scree path to Lava Tower. From this point, you will descend to Barranco campsite. Although you end the day at a similar elevation to where you started, this day is crucial for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for the summit push. Be sure to pack all your essentials in your small backpack, including layers, a raincoat, water, snacks, and sunscreen.
Barranco Camp (or similar)
DAY 5
Today is dedicated to acclimatizing your body to the high altitude of Kilimanjaro. You'll start by tackling the Barranco Wall, a thrilling climb that requires some scrambling and careful footing, but rewards you with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and glaciers. After conquering the Barranco Wall, you'll enjoy lunch surrounded by nature before continuing your trek to Karanga Camp. Nestled on a rocky ridge, this campsite offers a spectacular setting to rest and further acclimatize to the higher altitude. Be sure to pack all your essentials in your small backpack, including layers, a raincoat, water, snacks, and sunscreen.

Day 6
All your efforts will be rewarded as your trekking today will bring you closer to the summit. The trail takes you through steep and rocky terrain, with a significant elevation gain as you climb towards Barafu Camp. The landscape is barren and rocky, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. You will arrive at the camp in the afternoon and have an early dinner to sleep early, as you will start the final ascent to the summit during the night. Be sure to pack all your essentials in your small backpack, including layers, a raincoat, water, snacks, and sunscreen.

Day 7
Today is the day! You'll make a very early start, around midnight, and after some tea, you will shuffle off into the night. The first leg of the hike will take you to Stella Point, which will be mentally and physically challenging. However, once you reach Stella Point, you will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see. From there, you will trek through snow to finally reach Uhuru Peak. After spending some time at the summit, taking in the incredible views, you will begin your descent back to Barafu Camp for lunch and a well-deserved rest. Later in the day, you will continue your descent to Mweka Camp, arriving late in the afternoon. Be sure to pack all your essentials in your small backpack, including layers, a raincoat, water, snacks, and sunscreen.
Mweka Camp (or similar)
DAY 8
Final day on Kilimanjaro! You'll continue your descent to the Mweka Park Gate, where you will receive your summit certificates. As you descend, the air becomes warmer and more humid, signaling your return to lower altitudes. The descent can be steep and slippery at times, so it's important to take care and watch your footing. Once at Mweka Gate, you'll board a private transfer to your hotel. After settling in, your farewell dinner will take place at the hotel restaurant. Be sure to pack all your essentials in your small backpack, including layers, a raincoat, water, snacks, and sunscreen.

FAQs
Where do I fly into?
TrovaTrip recommends flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), as this is closest and easiest.
Am I going to be too slow?
A high level of fitness and prior hiking experience are required. This trek gains over 13,000 feet in elevation and takes place in high-altitude conditions. With that being said, I am not a fast hiker! On Kilimanjaro, we are actually encouraged to hike slowly to aid in acclimatized. This adventure is about the JOURNEY, and I intend to guide us into an experience, not simply a destination. If you want to go but are feeling scared, please reach out to me. I’m more than happy to listen and provide feedback.
Is travel inSurance required?
Travel Insurance Required: Due to the high elevations, travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking is mandatory. TrovaTrip recommends World Nomads’ Standard Policy for treks up to 19,685 feet (6,000 meters).
I have also used Global Rescue for insurance, especially if you’ve got multiple adventure trips in one year.
Any Preparation Tips?
Here is a blog from the TrovaTrip site. There’s lots of good info here. Once our group is official, I create a chat where we all share tips, and gear recommendations and are available to support each other. I am also personally available to you as we get ready!
