Get ready to explore the unspolied nature of the last frontier, Alaska has it all. From the snow capped peaks and glacial valleys of Denali to the rugged coastline and marine wildlife of the Kenai Fjords, Alaska is what wilderness dreams are made of.
Get ready to drink in the fresh air and dirty your feet. Together, we'll hike ridges with stunning views of Denali, scale glaciers on the Kenai Peninsula, and view wildlife on a cruise around Resurrection Bay. And at the end of the day, we set up camp under the midnight sun and gather round for Ritual MAGIK with our new coven.
Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Alaska! Settle in and get ready for an incredible week. This evening, we will gather for a welcome dinner to get to know our sisters that we will travel on this great adventure. We stay overnight in Anchorage before heading into the wilderness tomorrow!
Hotel in Anchorage
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel and then we leave the city behind for the wilds of Alaska, the final frontier. Together we drive to Talkeetna, gateway to the Denali Wilderness.
After arriving in Talkeetna, we’ll cruise into Alaska’s untamed wilderness on a fully narrated river tour on the Susitna River in the shadows of Denali, the highest mountain peak in North America. The trip includes a short nature walk to a Dena’ina Indian encampment and authentic trapper’s cabin. Folklore, artifacts and panoramic views combine to make this unique 20-mile Alaska river adventure unforgettable.
In the afternoon we'll head out on a guided 3.5-mile hike through lush old-growth forest around X Lake which is located just outside of Talkeetna. Keep your eyes open as we watch for otters, beavers, bears, foxes, moose, and more than 100 species of birds, including raptors and loons.
In the evening we set up camp. Here we have dinner, share in Ritual MAGIK Sister Circles to honor the wild wisdom of the days sightings and activities. Each day I will offer practices and ritual to highlight what we have seen and shared. It might be journal prompts, Shamanic wisdom practices, art therapy, guided meditations, or energy work- I have a huge toolkit to offer!
Weather dependent, we can stretch our bodies in a gentle yoga practice.
Camping in Talkeetna
Day 3
With a full day to explore the area, we’ll start the day off with a guided 7 mile hike in Denali State Park. Hike through the boreal forests and into a subalpine mosaic of alder and tundra patches up to a high alpine lake with sweeping panoramic views. Keep your eyes open as we watch for moose and bears and if the weather cooperates, Alaska's highest peak Denali, The Great One.
This afternoon, we’ll have time to explore Talkeetna and it’s quirky shops and small village.
In the evening, camp bring us together in the Ritual Magik of sister circle and rituals.
Camping in Talkeetna
Day 4
This morning we’ll head south to explore Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. The drive takes us past Anchorage and along the beautiful Turnagain Arm with the possibility to see Beluga whales. We make a detour into the heart of Portage Valley for an easy guided hike to big views of Byron Glacier.
After the hike, we’ll keep heading further south to the small seaside hamlet of Seward, set on an inlet on the Kenai Peninsula. Seward is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, where glaciers flow from the Harding Icefield into coastal fjords whose main inhabitants are halibut, whales, and puffins.
Tonight we camp in Seward! Our evening Ritual Magik circle brings us together to recap the magical and mystical that has crossed our paths today.
Day 5
Today, visit Kenai Fjords National Park! Beginning at the Exit Glacier section near Seward, you will have the option to do a variety of hikes, all of which get you up close to a massive and ancient glacier. If you're up for the challenge, follow our guide to a hike above the tree line to the top of Exit Glacier where it meets the Harding Icefield. The icefield stretches to the horizon and is one of the most awe-inspiring views you will ever experience. On your way back down the mountain, keep your eyes open for marmots, mountain goats, and of course, bears!
Our evening Ritual Magik circle closes the evening under the stars.
Day 6
On your final day in Seward, embark on an unforgettable wildlife and glacier viewing cruise. This cruise, narrated by a national park ranger, journeys through Resurrection Bay, out into the Gulf of Alaska, and then into one of the many nearby fjords. Along the way, you may spot whales, orcas, sea otters, and other marine life. Not to mention, the occasional bear lingering on a beach or mountain goat high in the surrounding cliffs. As you move through the fjords, you'll stop near one of the many glaciers and view the continual calving of ice. Sections of glaciers, often the size of a house, fall hundreds of feet, crashing into the ocean. The power and scale of glaciers in Alaska make for a tremendous sight!
Tonight we have a very special Closing Circle to honor the journey and connections we have made. In Ritual Magik, we seal our bonds of shared, sacred experiences.
Day 7
The journey home begins.
On the trip from Seward back to Anchorage, you can stretch your legs at the spectacular Alyeska Resort. Take a tranquil walk through the quiet old-growth spruce forests that surround the resort or grab some lunch at the hotel's restaurant.
